Dear Financial Partners,
Thank you so much for your financial support and prayers. Our four-color brochure is at the printers. We should have a finished copy soon that will describe the ministry of Real Men.
We are partnering with HOPE Ministries (Houses of Prayer Everywhere). I drove to Scottsbluff about three weeks ago to speak to about 15 pastors at an early morning breakfast concerning lighthouses of prayer. We spent time on our knees praying for unity. The pastors confessed a spirit of mistrust and competition in relating to one another. I sensed brokenness!
We had a great time in the Lighthouse of Prayer Rally & Seminars in Lincoln and Kearney last week. A number of intercessors and leaders learned how to develop a prayer, care and share lifestyle by learning to BLESS at least five neighbors, five minutes a day, five days a week for five weeks. Bless stands for the following needs: "B" – Body "L" – Labor "E" --Emotional "S" – Social "S" – Spiritual. Needs. We postponed Hastings and Scottsbluff until the spring.
Beginning the first of Oct., I have been meeting with the men of Gates of Praise in Lincoln to establish a leadership core. We are doing phase I – Masculine Context -- using Building Brothers materials. The men have been responsive, open and prayerful.
Karen and I are more than half way through the marital intimacy classes at First Evangelical Covenant, Lincoln (Sunday School). We are teaching six couples in a home on Sat. night. Please pray that these couples experience a broken and contrite spirit in confessing sin and experiencing forgiveness.
Steve, our oldest son, is home now. I have been reading Philip Yancey’s book, What’s So Amazing About Grace, with him. He is not sure about his long-term plans, but is considering higher education majoring in Outdoor Education. Aaron is finishing up his senior year at Southeast High. Tim is a sixth grader. Please pray that these young men have a passion to know Christ and serve Him with all their heart.
I will leave you with a closing thought. Why was Israel or why are we half-hearted in giving God our very best? I believe we have a faulty understanding of God’s attributes. Because our perspective is too narrow, we reduce God to the size of sinful human beings. We fail to understand His character as revealed by Malachi: "My name will be great among the nations . . . I am a great king, says the Lord Almighty, ‘and my name is to be feared among the nations" (Mal. 1:11,14).
Sincerely in Christ,
Mark Pomeroy
