Dear Ministry Partners,

A lady stopped her car and then called me from a phone booth, “I want to make an impact in my neighborhood by starting a lighthouse of prayer,” she said.  She was one of hundreds of listeners from Nebraska and Iowa who called into KGBI Sept. 20th during the “Turn Up The Light Day" campaign.

A Lincoln man, who also called into KGBI, told me, “I am tired of sitting on the sidelines.”  After seeing God use him while on a short-term mission trip to Mexico, he now has a passion to see youth use lighthouses of prayer in their schools.

As more lighthouses of prayer serve neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, nursing homes and prisons, the number of people becoming Christians will accelerate.

How will we disciple and train lighthouse leaders and new believers resulting from these lighthouses of prayer?  I believe God is calling Real Men to begin addressing some of these needs.

Background of Journey to Make God's Story Ours

During my 31 years as a Christian, God has been preparing and equipping me for such a time as this.  I began writing the discipleship curriculum, “Journey to Make God's Story Ours,” in 1988, but in the year 2001, God has constantly nudged me to develop it fully.

The purpose of the “Guide” is to evangelize and establish people in Christ so they can be entrusted with ministry to extend the Gospel into the world.  The goal is to bring about personal, church and community transformation.

The first phase of the curriculum is designed to reconcile individuals so they understand God's plan and purpose in His revelation to us (Eph. 1:17-19).  The second phase revives churches so people experience Christ's passion and power in their hearts (Eph. 3:16-19).  Finally, the third phase restores communities as we put on the armor through prayer and boldly preaching the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 6:10-20).

In the last 27 years, I have taught the second and third modules, Old Testament Walk-Thru and Romans, frequently in home, university, business and church settings.  The first module, Seed Thoughts of the Bible, is now written and ready for test marketing.

Six men have agreed to teach various portions of this first module in men’s seminars.  Lessons learned in teaching the Seed Thoughts module in real settings will be used in the final editing/ reformatting of the content and applied to future modules.  Eventually, individual workbooks will be published for each of the 12 modules within Journey to Make God's Story Ours.  (Please review the attached brochure, “Summary of Journey to Make God's Story Ours”).

Other Past and Present Ministry Opportunities
(Please Pray)

·         Assist Milford, NE, pastors in using lighthouse of prayer as a primary outreach tool in their community.  Continue to encourage Lincoln area churches to increase the number of lighthouses or begin the process.

·         Representatives of Real Men will teach three seminars at Omaha's Heartland Christian Ministries Conference Oct. 20th: Practical Exercises to Enhance Intimacy with God; Practical Steps to Enhance Marital Intimacy and Practical Steps in Beginning a Lighthouse of Prayer.

·         Teach prisoners for 5 hours Oct. 23rd at Washington Correctional Institution, Chipley, Florida: Walk-Through the Old Testament; Foundation of Faith (Gen. 12 - 15); Definition of Faith (Rom 3:24 - 5:21); How to Live Victoriously in this World (Rom. 6:1 - 8:39); Extending God's Reign on Earth (Deut.).

·         Led various prayer meetings for the community.

·         Help facilitate weekly pastors' prayer.

·         Catalyst in presenting the concept of a Christian community foundation for Lincoln and possibly Nebraska that would educate donors, manage funds donated by Christians in areas close to their hearts, and assist individuals in the available financial and estate planning options to most benefit families and organizations.

Your Help is Needed

In the last few months, Real Men has lost about $1,200 a month support, mostly due to the poor economy.  Your financial help is needed at this time in order for Real Men to continue being a resource center focusing on the transformation of men, marriages and communities.

This mission cannot be accomplished without teamwork from folks like you.

Besides the ongoing financial support of Real Men, additional funds will be required to develop a comprehensive, interactive, discipleship resource like the Guide.

Here is my request to you:

  1. Ask God in prayer what He would have you do.  We are asking God for people who can give $50 to $200 or more each month.  We are also looking to God to provide one-time gifts of $100, $250, $1,000, $5,000 and other giving amounts.  Any size gift will be appreciated.  You can also give on-line through our web page: www.realmen.org.  Click on "Financial Partnership" and instructions will lead you to Injesus.com, which is a ministry set up for on-line giving through your bank.
  2. If God has given you a passion to participate in this mission and is leading you to give, please make your tax-deductible check out to “Real Men of Integrity” and mail in the attached envelope

Thanks for your partnership in the gospel.   I want to share a special thank you to Art Johnson Realty as they have assisted Real Men of Integrity with office space.

Sincerely in Christ,

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Thank you so much for your financial support of the ministry.  Our family had a good trip to Florida and saw some interesting historical sights.  It was great visiting with my brother in law and wife.  Steve and Tim did make the trip.  Tim is adjusting to his broken arm.  He is learning how to write with his left arm. Aaron is doing great academically in his first year of classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Business Finance.

Steve, 21, our oldest son flew to New Zealand Tues., Nov. 13th, for a three month bike tour of the southern island.  He had been saving up his money after working in Estes Park.  This has been a long-term dream of Steve's and felt this was the best time to do it while he is still single.  We received word yesterday afternoon that Steve made it safely to Christchurch, New Zealand.  He had steak dinner and omelet on the 12-hour flight from LA to New Zealand.  A man befriended him at the airport and allowed him to stay overnight at his lakeside home, a 2 hour drive from the airport.  Steve reassembled his bike at this man's house, got a hot shower and plans to leave today to begin his bike tour.  It was definitely a God thing!

Please pray for Steve's physical protection, ability to keep track of details, and spiritual growth.  Pray that God would surprise him with His love and grace through people he meets and times alone with God.

Please pray for the development of the Journey to Make God's Story Ours curriculum.  Larry Rivers is working on computer layout of the first module, "Seed Thoughts of the Bible," so we can print it in a spiral workbook for test marketing.  One large church has indicated a desire to print and test market the curriculum in its small groups ministry.

A group of teachers from various denominations have met who are preparing themselves to teach the first course in Jan.   There is also interest in using the curriculum for discipleship within prison ministry.

We are working on a proposal package.   Please pray for wisdom and the funding needed.  Continue to pray for Real Men as finances remain tight.  I will be meeting with some pastors in the coming days.  Thanks for your support and prayers.

Sincerely,
