Real Men Nameplate

April 26, 2000

Dear Financial Partners,

Thank you for your prayers and support to Real Men of Integrity. Recently, I did a study on watchmen. Here is one of the passages that shows the importance of being alert to God through prayer: Be on guard, that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying in order that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:34-36).

Each of us need to pray continually because our busyness often prevent us from grasping God’s vision and mission for our lives. It is easy to love pleasure rather than God (2 Tim. 3:4). Sometimes, we hold on to a form of godliness but deny its power (2 Tim. 3:5).

What must we do to in order to pursue simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ (2 Cor. 11:3)? Let’s examine the context of the book:

  1. We turn to the Lord by looking at Him through prayer and the Word (2 Cor. 3:12-18).

  2. We preach Christ Jesus as Lord in full transparency and honesty (2 Cor. 4:2-5).

  3. We boast in our weaknesses so that the power of Christ may dwell in us (2 Cor. 12:9-10).

Our second all-night prayer was Fri., Mar. 31st, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Others will be scheduled in the near future. Keep checking our web page at http://www.realmen.org/ for updates. On the web, click on “Journey to Make God's Story Ours” to find Bible studies to help you in your spiritual growth. I am using these resources in teaching a singles Bible study every Tues. night.

We just finished our marital intimacy class of five couples that met Fri. nights in our home. We have seen God change lives! Husbands and wives are moving toward more biblical roles. They are courageously facing sensitive emotional and physical issues in their marriages. Starting Apr. 30th and running for five Sundays, Karen and I will be leading a Sunday class on marital intimacy at First Evangelical Covenant, Lincoln.

I am serving on a National Day of Prayer committee that is planning the observance Thurs., May 4th, in Lincoln at the Warner Chamber in the State Capitol, noon to 1 p.m.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mark Pomeroy
