Dear Partners in Ministry,
Let me briefly give you a biblical basis for all-night prayer:
Victory: At night, Abraham defeated the forces who had kidnapped Lot (Gen. 14:15).
Presence: At night, God appeared to Isaac to bless and encourage him after dispute over wells (Gen. 26:24)
Protection: At night, God appeared to Jacob in a dream to reveal angels ascending and descending on a latter after fleeing from Esau (Gen. 28:11).
Judgment: At night, God executed judgment upon Egypt by killing the first born (Ex. 12:12).
Celebration: The night was to be observed for the Lord through all generations for having brought Israel out from Egypt (Ex. 12:42).
Guidance: Pillar of fire by night to give them light (Ex. 13:21).
Miracles: Lord swept sea back by strong east wind all night so waters divided (Ex. 14:21).
Provision: Dew and manna fell on camp at night (Num. 11:9).
Revelation: God came to Balaam at night to speak word (Num. 22:20).
I began a 12-week Old Testament Walk-Thru class Jan. 11th for singles (Tues. night, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 1340 N. 44th #16) that gives an unbeliever the essential background in order to place his faith in Jesus Christ and the believer a biblical understanding of who his faith rests in. We started Romans last Tues. night after an overview of God's plan in the O.T.
This study and other resources are included in our web page at www.realmen.org. Click Journey to Make God's Story Ours. Let me know if you are interested in being part of a future study.
Karen and I began an eight-week marital intimacy course Feb. 4th. It has been an enriching experience to see five couples vulnerably share with one another, face unhealed hurts, confess sin and apply God's grace for healing. We use resources from Intimate Life Ministries, Austin, TX. If you are interested in being part of a future study, please let me know.
In Christ,
